Rome takes #1 in Region, Coach John Reid hits 100th win at Rome in less than 10 seasons.

The Rome Wolves traveled to for the first time since the 2019-2020 season where the Wolves would win that match 38-6 over the Wildcats of Villa Rica.

Coming into this game, Villa Rica in region play was sitting at a (3-0) record and Rome a (2-0) region record. This game was for the 1 and 2 spot.

Rome would come out on the first drive and make an immediate statement with a quick score to put the Wolves up 7-0 at the beggining of the game. The score came from Rome quarterback, Braxton Anderson throwing a short wheel route to Wolves runningback Chance Arthur who would take it 40 yards for the touchdown.

Villa Rica would then take over going a quick strike for an 85 yard touchdown from Will Wallace to Myles George. The 2 point conversion attempt failed which set the score at 7-6.

Villa Rica would throw another punch at Rome making it 13-7 with just 5:32 left 2nd quarter due to Wildcats Will Wallace 9 yard touchdown run.

Rome would then take possession only to quickly move the ball down field to allow Javarius McDearmont to scamper in for an 8 yard touchdown run. This would put Rome up 14-13 with 4:50 remaining in the 2nd quarter.

Rome would then start to impose a bit their will on Villa Rica heading into the half with another score. Braxton Anderson would throw a strike 19 yards for a touchdown to the lightning quick Tinerious “Toot” Stallings.

In the next half, the defense would adjust and keep the wildcats from scoring any in the second half. A big time player in the secondary was Darnell Collins who had several interceptions. Rome would create a stop and take over on offense with a Chance Arthur 18 yard touchdown run putting the Wolves up 28-13 in the 3rd quarter.

Rome would then use the next quarter to control the ball and knock the time off the clock in order to travel back to Rome with a huge region victory.

This win for the Wolves puts Rome at #1 in the region after defeating then undefeated region foe in East Paulding and undefeated in region Villa Rica. Rome remains undefeated in region play sitting at (3-0).

If the Rome Wolves were to win out and win the region, this would be the fourth straight season as region champions.

Rome will host Lithia Springs next Friday night at Historic Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia.

Kick off will be at 7:30pm.
